Sorry Dan l we glorify your fearless pioneering days back when but doubt that you loved old Kentucke any more than those who followed you and stayed here The record tells part of my personal esteem for the Bluegrass State I was born in the southeastern hills Wayland Floyd County in 1926 served with the U S 6th Cavalry Recon in WWII graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1950 married in Louisville in 1954 and fathered a son there in 1956 worked as a newsman for the Associated Press in Louisville and Frankfort 1952 62 and magazine editor for state government during 1962 67 Career opportunities of course take their fateful toll so we moved out of state twice in 1968 to Washington DC where I served as a Public Information Officer for the U S Department of the Interior and later the U S Department of Energy back to Kentucky in 1981 99 Lebanon then to North Carolina in 1999 where our son works for the Feds in Raleigh After my wife died in 2005 I moved back home this time to Bardstown in April 2006 Unless otherwise ordained I will die in my home state and plan for burial in the Lebanon National Cemetery

The author, Paul R. Jordan, is shown with his two great grandchildren, who reside in Chemnitz, Germany, near the Czech border. He visited with the girls and the Peter Fenger family in Chemnitz in July 2005. Jordan, a retired journalist and author, is a native of Wayland, Ky., and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1950 following Army service in World War II. He was a machine gunner with the 6th Recon Cavalry in Germany. Jordan is editor of the book, Coal Camp Kids, an illustrated story of growing up in Appalachia. He is also the author of three other books, including Echoes At Twilight. The author turned to writing books upon retirement from the U.S. Government as a public information officer in Washington, D.C. He was an Associated Press newsman for 10 years.
