From the Back Cover:

Cultural appropriation is a pervasive feature of today's world.Whether it occurs within a country or across nations, it arises inevery facet of a multicultural society. It can take manyforms—from incorporating African-American musical styles toassimilating religious practices of indigenous peoples. And becauseit is usually seen as being inextricably bound with the oppressionof minority cultures, the topic itself is often controversial andinspires passionate debates. But is cultural appropriation alwaysmorally objectionable? And are there instances where it might alsobe benign—or even beneficial?

The Ethics of Cultural Appropriation undertakes acomprehensive and systematic investigation of the moral andaesthetic questions that arise from the practice of culturalappropriation. With sensitivity and rigorous empirical research, this groundbreaking work brings together a team of leadingphilosophers and experts in the social sciences to examine theethics of cultural appropriation in its various guises: the artsand archaeology, museums, genetics, ecological knowledge, religion, and more.
