Throughout history strong women have risen above adversity and heartache. Goldie Womack is one of those women. Her heart is strong and resilient. Surrounded by love, Goldie desires no more than the simplest pleasures. In the deep south of the 1970s the tiny town of Reveille remains frozen in the turmoil of the civil rights movement. Goldie challenges the status quo when she volunteers to help her nephew in his campaign to be the community's first black mayor. Her world and Reveille will never be the same.

About the Author:

Mary May Burruss has spent her life in Virginia and Florida. Her love for the tempo and tone of the south influences her art and defines her stories. Her characters find refuge from the struggles of life by resting under tall Magnolia trees, wading in shallow, slow-moving rivers, or basking in the warmth of the sun. Today, Mary May lives in Cape Canaveral, a place where rockets roar and imagination touches the stars. Many of Mary May's poems and short stories have been published and recognized. In workshops in Miami and Cocoa Beach, Mary May has inspired and mentored a community of novices and accomplished writers striving to improve in their craft.
