Bea grows up dirt poor among the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in central West Virginia. There's lots of work to do, and amenities such as indoor plumbing and central heating are nonexistent. While others in Nicholas County had it tough, no one else had to suffer the type of abuse she did at home. Bea's father runs his household like a dictator, and he's never hesitant to abuse his daughter whenever she does anything not to his liking. Bea gets slapped, kicked, and beaten even at five years old. While Bea's spirit sometimes wavers as a result of being unable to please her father, her story is ultimately one of survival. By never giving up and trusting in God, she overcomes years of abuse, proving that fate and faith can lead to dreams that victims of abuse often think are unattainable. Become immersed in a story that defines the true meaning of determination as Bea recounts a journey that will inspire anyone who has ever suffered or felt like giving up in Appalachian Child.

From the Author:

(2017) It is my earnest desire that those who have experienced domestic/child abuse as I have will find encouragement and hope in the pages of my book. Joe and I are blessed to have 2 of our 4 grandchildren with us for the summer.  What an awesome blessing for us all!  Their sweet smiling face and little fingerprints on the windows brings joy to my heart.  May God be with you all.    (2016) Again, many thanks to all of you that have purchased my e-book, I am truly grateful.  It is my hope and prayer that all of you will have a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays this year whatever holiday you celebrate.  Though we may celebrate different holidays we have far more in common than not, for we are all of one race, the human race.  It is truly the time of year to have fun and enjoy our family and friends.       Thank you for your reviews and feedback.  I enjoy reading all of them.  As I read them, I pray for each of you and your families.     If I have learned anything during my time on this earth, it is that life is far too short to dwell on the sad and troubled times that beset all of us from time to time.  It is my goal each and every day to look for the good in people and the good in all things that come my way.  I am able to do that about 99% of the time.  It is my desire that you will be able to look for and find the good in all things that come you way.  Love and hugs, Bea        (2015) My heart felt thanks to each of you that purchased my e-book here on Amazon.com. My book as been in the top 90% of all e-books sold here on Amazon for 460 out of  the last 463 days; and for that I am totally grateful to each dear person that has purchased Appalachian      Child.  I thank God for each of you and pray for you even though I don't know your name but God does.  I am humbled by this level of sales success and I truly owe it all to God and to each of you.     I also want to thank all of you that submitted a review.  I spend a lot of time here on Author Central reading your reviews, trying to picture you, and wonder where you are from.  If you have read my book and have not yet submitted a review, may I humbly ask that you take a few minutes and submit one?  I so look forward to hearing from you.  I am  contemplating writing another book, as a continuation to Appalachian Child.  Your review feedback could be the most valuable tool I could have in writing a much better book next time.        Momma, words can not express how deeply I miss you each and every day.  This was the first year that I canned and make sauerkraut without you.  You always tasted the cabbage and added the salt for me.  I do pray that I got it right without you, time will tell.   Love and hugs to you Momma.
