We have all carried in our hearts a hard knot of hurt and resentment that has called out for justice, for revenge, for retaliation. But what would happen if we let it go - if instead of pursuing payback we proffered pardon? What will happen if we forgive? Through their stories, the world's most beloved writers give us a glimpse into the lives of others - how they have forgiven, how they have held onto the hurt, and how it affected their own hearts, their families, their friends and the world. What would happen if we were to forgive - and remember? Also included: 33 films exploring forgiveness. Stories by: Miss Mitford; Elizabeth Gaskell; Jerome K. Jerome; Leo Tolstoy; Maurice Baring; Oscar Wilde; Thomas Hardy; Edna Ferber; Yei Theodora Ozaki; Thomas Nelson Page; Israel Zangwill; L. Adams Beck; Anton Chekhov; Saki; Guy de Maupassant; Edith Wharton; Robert Barr; T S Arthur; O. Henry; Maria Edgeworth; F. Scott Fitzgerald; Susan Glaspell; Erckmann-Chatrain and Joseph Alden.
