Joining the ranks of such literary cats as TS Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, Lewis Carols Cheshire Cat from Alice In Wonderland, and a wink to The Cat in the Hat by Doctor Sues, Manx, is a must have for literary cat lovers. Manx is a surreal tale of a cat with no tail who encounters sharks, a purple rhinoceros, a master, a bird and plenty of fish bones. Though light and dark by turns, Manx wins the hearts of every reader for its portal of a small, lost creature who makes his way through life by learning to trust his intuition, doing the right thing and chasing after his dreams. Through the tale, Manx addresses important issues such as the consequence of youths rebellion, plagiarism, suicide, acceptance, forgiveness and trust in the joyous spirit under-pinning life. Ultimately, Manx leaves the reader with a sense of hope - a commodity in high demand in this age of terrorism and existential consumer decay.

About the Author:

Michael Zittel is an ex-bohemian poet who performed extensively in the southern California spoken word circuit of the mid 1990's. In 1999 he married and became a geek. Now, in 2010, he resides in Redding Connecticut with his wife and young son, which is a dream he did not even know he had. It is a lovely dream.

Review:

I very much enjoyed reading Manx. It s very visual and sensory oriented and organically written, almost like stream of consciousness yet in the boundary of strong narrative. I found some symbolism but they are ironically embedded and never didactic. e.g. meditation. I like how the portraiture of God is intertwined between absurd, humorous and wise. Not about good and evil and almost carries cool indifference in the voice. Most of all, I connect very much with Manx --Yejin Yoo (Reader)

Vivid and interpretive imagery and language...[Reminds me] of Lucy In The Sky...Excellent work --Steve French, ESQ (Reader)
