Developing and writing this curriculum has been a profound experience for me. When I started working with two small, self-contained groups of students with various cognitive and motor disabilities I felt ill prepared and frustrated. At that point I would never have predicted that this experience would inspire me to focus on this subject and write a book about it! There is no greater joy in my work life than seeing my students use art to express themselves and visibly show their pleasure. This gives me a level of professional satisfaction that I would not have visualized in 2006 when I was clueless and completely lacking in resources. Making Art Special: A Curriculum for Special Education Art, Second Edition is the kind of resource I was looking for when I needed help and now it is available to help others succeed and see the joy on the faces of their students!About the Author:
