Synopsis

The history of the Fidel Castro revolution, along with the events that preceded it, is woven throughout the experiences of the book's main character, Elena, her family, and friends. Survival is the thread that holds the story together, as Elena faces her circumstances with humor and acceptance. An important contribution of the book is to connect future generations of Cuban exiles to the historical and emotional roots of their ancestors.
