This book was inspired by the original translation in 1974 and was based on the syntax of the text. The translation in this book has been simplified somewhat to make it more easily understood to the 21st century reader without taking anything away from the original meaning of Musashi's work. I was also inspired by Japanese martial arts films and the history of Japan as part of my love of anime films and television series. The essays and biography flesh out the work by providing information critical to understanding Musashi's philosophy.About the Author:
