I wrote this book with my own young children in mind and 13 years of clinical experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor. It focuses on the real threat, which is not strangers, but people we know and trust. My goal was to make the conversation direct, but non-threatening, simple and engaging. We have to start the conversation at birth. Sexual abuse is an epidemic. One in three girls and one in six boys will be victims and socio-economic status is not a preventive measure. About the Author
Tatiana Matthews is a practicing Licensed Professional Counselor with 13 years of clinical experience treating adults and adolescents in the wealthiest county of Georgia. Despite the economic advantage of this community, the pattern of victims knowing their offenders and the majority of victims never reporting the abuse remained true. Through this experience, Tatiana identified the need to increase parent and child dialogue about sexual abuse prevention. Tatiana resides in Dunwoody, GA with her husband Jim, their two children Maximus and Luna and their two Chesapeake Bay Retrievers Beacon and Bay.
