With a style that never settles into one particular form, this passionate poetry collection flits among emotions with startling grace and fluidity. Each poem is its own image and each of the book's five parts strive to elucidate feelings ranging from loss and sorrow to elation and discovery. The collection builds a narrative glimpse into the human experience, and ultimately into the heart and what makes it beat.

Chris Doka is known for: being a unique mixture of strange and nerdy, smelling like scented candles, her unconditional acceptance of others, her belief in color healing, her love of astrology, her voracious reading habits, her obsession with Hungary and her fierce pride about being Hungarian, her out-of-tune singing and her intense writing habits (which include sitting in coffee shops for over five hours at a time and staring at people awkwardly on the subway while she's thinking). After being born and raised in the Bronx, she attended college at New York University, from which she graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Politics and Journalism in May 2010. She has been published in "The Prose Poem Project" journal, NYU "Street Level" publication, amNewYork newspaper and The New York Daily News.
