PATRICK McDERMOTT has an AA from Sacramento City College, a BA in Economics “with Honors” from The California State University at Sacramento, a Professional Certificate in Computer Programming “with Distinction” from The University of California at Berkeley Extension, a Professional Award from The University of California at Santa Cruz Extension and a Master of Science in Information Systems from the University of San Francisco. He became a computer programmer after a five-year career as an Economist and so understands both business art and Systems science. He has been working in the Computer Industry for over 25 years, as a programmer, analyst, developer, manager and trainer. Employers have included the State of California Division of Labor Statistics & Research and American President Lines. He is co-author of Workflow Modeling: Tools for Process Improvement and Application Development and the author of Zen & the Art of Systems Analysis. He has taught seminars at the University of California, Berkeley and UCLA Extensions. He is a former Director of the San Francisco Chapter of the San Francisco Bay Data Management Association (DAMA).
