For Rhys's entire life the world has been at war. Food items in great demand were always hard to find, international trade was almost at a standstill, and paranoia was running rampant through the streets. It didn't really matter who the war was with, or why. It just always was. No one questioned it. Still, the war never seemed real to Rhys, because it was in some third world country. It was not on his doorstep, so, to him, it did not exist. Then, one day, the war moved out of the third world country. A massive bombing left all of the world's major cities in ruins, and, as one of the survivors, Rhys must struggle to rebuild his own society and find a place to call home. Now surrounded by total strangers, Rhys yields to the temptations that lay in rumors, telling him there are still undamaged cities on the mainland. He begins traveling across England, looking for these fabled cities so that he can rebuild his life.
