There is a simple formula for discovering and confirming the career that is right for students. Successful students learn to discover their strengths and evaluate the career path that most reflects their interests and aptitudes. The steps outlined in Hired ‘Right’ are essential, and the earlier they are completed, the more focused and motivated a student will become.

Hired ‘Right’ is not about being hired quickly, but correctly. The AEIOU formula for success will help to achieve this elusive treasure:

Miller says, “As a former recruiter for a Fortune 50 company, I was amazed by how many college students didn’t know what they wanted to do upon graduation. Many had majored in a track that wasn’t relevant to their career direction. Simultaneously, I was impressed by those relatively few students who knew what they wanted to do and who chose a major, activities, and experiences that prepared them for the interview we were having that day. My goal in Hired ‘Right’ Out of College is to help transform these former students into the latter.”

From the Author:

I began 'Right' in 2007 and published in 10/2010. My goal was to write a book that was helpful, practical and empathetic to what the average student experiences while attending college. Each chapter is broken up into three parts: a helpful teaching and discussion, followed by a section of realistic to-dos and helpful hints. The third element in each chapter is a running story that follows Vanessa, a second semester sophomore who in an attempt to get her career on track visits the career services office and begins to implement the ideas in each chapter.
My inspiration for 'Right' sprang from the ten years I recruited on college campuses. I drew from my interactions and interviews with the students and by observing and taking note of the career service professionals. My respect and affection for this office grew and I began to realize the important role that they can play in a student's career. My character Mr. Simms, is a career services professional who is representative of the best I saw during my years of recruiting.
As a former recruiter for a Fortune 50 company, I was amazed by how many college students didn't know what they wanted to do upon graduation. Many had majored in a track that wasn't relevant to their career direction. Simultaneously, I was impressed by those relatively few students who know what they wanted to do and who chose a major, activities, and experiences that prepared them for the interview we were having that day. My goal in Hired 'Right' Out of College is to help transform these former students into the latter.I hope you enjoy the book - Thank you for your interest.
