Love at the End of the Road is a love story with a difference. Rae's charming story is beautifully written from the heart; not only does she find love with Rex, but she finds out more about herself than she ever knew. Woven through her account is the story of the great house itself at Batley and the history of the surrounding countryside. Love at the End of the Road is a heart - warming, amusing and inspiring story about one woman's journey of discovery. It is also a very candid and courageous story; one that explores universal themes and delves into the 'hidden corners' of a loving relationship, revealing all its joys and tribulations. Rae writes unflinchingly about what she gives up, and gains, in her new life with Rex, and just what it means to find 'love at the end of the road'.

Rae Roadley is a qualified journalist, having worked on the The Northern Advocate, the newspaper in her hometown Whangarei. It was during this time that she met beef and sheep farmer Rex Roadley who lived in a historic home at Batley on the Kaipara Harbour. After moving to Batley, she reported on farming and the Kaipara community. Her newspaper column, The Country Side, which tells wryly amusing tales of country life, earned many followers and led her to delve into the history of her home and community - and tell the story of her new life in Love at the End of the Road: Finding my heart in the country.
