About the Author:

The first time I realized I was overweight was when I was eleven years old. It was a warm and sunny spring day after school, and I was playing football in the street with my friends. When I went to catch a pass, an older neighbor who had been watching us shouted that I had "boobs" that shook when I ran. I soon developed an internal sense of worthlessness and became self-conscious about my body. After more than a year of constant feasting with my friend Joe, I was shocked to discover that I weighed a whopping 193 pounds. Although I was only twelve, I knew it was time for a profound change, and I began my lifelong commitment to health and fitness.
