9781466209565: Excerpts From The Life and times of Tara Malone

Tara Malone is coming of age in London in the 60´s. The Beatles are fab and fashion designers are breaking away from tradition. Tara plans to break away, too, and is counting on her education, talent, looks, and the good fortune of being in the right place at the right time to take her where she wants to go. She faces a world of opportunities in dance, drama, and modelling – a world that also reveals lies, deceit, uninvited sex, violence, drugs, and prostitution. Uncertain, yet hopeful, Tara dares to explore – and quickly discovers that pursuing both a romantic relationship and a passion for the arts is not so easy. Must it be only one or the other? Tara wonders, “Are we still like Jane Austen heroines, looking for a good match or perish?” Through "Excerpts from the Life and Times of Tara Malone", you share Tara’s journeys from London to Paris to Broadway and Sweden. Her diary entries enable you to experience a truly unique time and place in history through Tara’s eyes, while letters from her family and friends allow you to know Tara as they did. Follow along as she chases her dreams.

About the Author:

M.S.Lyons grew up in England, immigrating to Sweden at the age of twenty. She studied English and American literature, (including a course on Creative Writing in English) at the University of Uppsala, where she took a B.A. degree. Before that she qualified as a preschool teacher, and after that as a Montessori AMI teacher. She has been part of several writers groups, (for example, the Swedish chapter of SCBWI based in U.S.A.) Prior to moving to Sweden, M.S.Lyons had an education at The Arts Educational School in London, 1958-1963. She has two children and two grandchildren living in Sweden. Writing is now her main preoccupation, as she nears retirement from teaching. She has completed a distance course with The London School of Journalism on novel writing, from February 2010 to May 2011. Her tutor was Margaret James, the romantic novelist. 2010 she did her first Nanowrimo novel and became a “winner”!
