Excerpt - "Never believed in love at first sight before. And if I did believe in it I would never think it could happen in a place like Ramadi Iraq. And even if I thought it might happen anywhere in Iraq - a checkpoint just on the east edge of that town would be the last place I would expect to find it. Ramadi district was about the worst place in Al Anbar which was the worst province of the whole country. We flattened a big chunk of the town at one point but there were still plenty of places for the bad guys to shoot at us from in there. And the neighborhoods on the east side were the worst. But that is where I found Sajida. It was at the front of the line at a checkpoint on the eastern outskirts of Ramadi in Al Anbar in Iraq. The first thing that I noticed about Sajida is what we guys always noticed about the Iraqi women. It's those eyes peeking through the covering that they wear. Those eyes could say a lot to some of us. And Sajida eyes said a lot to me that day. She was staring right at me - completely focused. Her eyes were so dark, moist and clear. And so alert.
