Galit Urich, Michal Levi and Jennie Starr met in the Tarbuton an Israeli Cultural Center in San Diego, CA. Cooking Israeli food outside of Israel can be a challenge as ingredients and measurements are different. Varieties of cheeses, vegetables and spices are available, but you need to know which to select and how much of each to use. The women make the dishes they long for and miss from Israel by identifying ingredients and measurements that together successfully re-create the tastes of classic recipes in Israel. The three decided to take what they learned and to write this cookbook hoping that many would benefit and enjoy Israeli food in their homes.
