This book is a dialogue between the author, a Catholic and an oil exploring geologist, and his friend, a Jew and a social anthropologist commenting and reflecting on events in their lives and trying to understand their significance. The author believes that if correctly interpreted the Book of Genesis reveals the secrets of Creation and fits well with the logic of modern up-to-date Physics and his own theory of the Logons as the building bricks of the universe. This mixture of Science and Religion has been attempted before with a certain measure of success by the great Maimonides around the twelfth century. But since then things have progressed. Physics and Mathematics have made giant steps forward. It becomes necessary to re-visit Maimonides’ tenets to see if they still fit in with modern science. Questions are raised by author and commentator. And when both fail to find satisfying answers based on facts and reason, they find refuge in the mystical. Thus they see the Bible from a deeper perspective than its narrow literal text. Their interpretations of the Bible and Religion differ widely and only converge in believing that some spirit in moments of intimation of divine immortality inspire all of us to reach to the eternal truth. In this book Max Melli, being a born narrator regales us with entertaining episodes of his life in Libya and Africa, all containing kernels of his theories And when these are challenged by the commentator the result becomes a typical Talmudists’ paradise when the questions are subjected to infinite investigation adding pepper to what is over spiced in the first place.
