Service-Oriented Analysis and Design (SOAD) encompasses the tasks, deliverables and workflow that lead to the creation of Service-Oriented (SO) solutions. Realizing the promise of SOA - business flexibility and agility - is only possible through the successful application of SOAD. In this book we discuss how to use the SOAD Model Accelerator to successfully design SOA Solutions. The Model Accelerator is an extension to Rational Software Architect for WebSphere - simplifying and automating the creation of SOA solutions. The extension includes patterns for automating the construction of models, constraints for guiding model creation, and a set of reports for reviewing and sharing details. The book also provides guidance on: - Using SoaML, a DSL for SOA solutions, to model solutions - The importance of architecture in SOA - Guidance on how to successfully create diagrams within models - Tips on getting the most out of Rational Software Architect (key features, configuring, etc).
