Adams presents a textbook for a one-semester lecture or tutorial course on tiling theory for students who have a background in linear algebra, analysis and/or topology, and algebra, though he reviews the basics of those field in his preliminary section. Other sections cover introduction to tiling, types of tilings, aperiodic prototiles, and tilings in other geometries ad other dimensions. Among specific topics are some basic set theory, the possible symmetry of groups of tilings, tilings that are not edge-to-edge, the Penrose aperiodic protosets, and tilings of the hyperbolic plane.
