Ronald Goosenbury is the lead character, the protagonist, the heart endearing anti-hero. To appease people other than himself, he makes an attempt at middle-class America by getting married, having two kids, living in a house in suburbia and working a white collar job. Ronald, because of his personality, hates it all. It turns into a total disaster as Ronald proceeds with warped speed and rapid procession to lose all of his family’s money in an Atlantic City casino, ruin his credit, break his boss’ jaw at the company picnic’s softball game, lose his job and has his wife’s mother finance her divorce from him. Thinking a good defense is a good offense Ronald concocts a drunken scheme of using a bogus home made court order to put his wife in the mental institution. To his surprise it works. The men in the white coats come and take her away to “Serenity Land”. One thing leads to another which leads Ronald to getting a power of attorney for his “mentally ill” wife which he uses to sell the house. With the proceeds he plans to high tail it to Costa Rico and disappear living happily ever after. In the meantime while Ronald is creating havoc for his ex-boss, planning his exit out of middle-class America and dodging the police who are investigating his wife’s disappearance his wife, Dolores is locked in the mental institution under the care of Dr. Boswell. Dr. Boswell contracts schizophrenia and he becomes mentally ill. His other hallucinated personality falls in love with Dolores which creates a dilemma. If Dr. Boswell, the doctor, finds her sane and mentally fit then she will leave the mental institution. If this happens this happens the doctor’s other schizophrenic personality will lose the love of his life. The schizophrenic doctor devises and executes a plan to keep Dolores with him at the mental hospital for ever, or, “Till Sanity Do Us Part.” The book is different and sometimes a little weird; but good and entertaining. It has a lot of dark humor and a whole lot of “throw your head back and horse laugh” kind of humor too.
