When one begins building their act, getting new material is easy as there is so much material available today. As time passes, however, one has filled most of the slots in the act and one seeks unusual or novel material. The act already has card tricks, tricks with silks, and a plethora of the standard stuff. Then, the quest for something novel appears. The Torn & Restored Paper Dolls is a good solution. In this effect, the performer shows a strip of paper. The paper strip is folded into eight panels forming a packet of paper. The packet is cut and allowed to fall open. It appears as eight paper dolls. The paper dolls are torn apart into eight separate pieces. The dolls are stacked and the edges trimmed. The dolls are then seen to be rejoined as they were a moment ago. The paper is tossed to the audience. It is a versatile trick. It packs very small. The dolls can be large or small to fit into any kind of show. It is also easy to perform. Preparation can be a bit difficult, however the materials are inexpensive and a system to make it can be accomplished quickly.
