One hundred autobiographical stories.

Paul Strohm was born in Western Springs, Illinois in 1938. He “went east” to college, as Midwesterners used to say, and to graduate school at Berkeley. He was a walk-on in the civil rights movement, a low-echelon participant in the Berkeley FSM, and an aspiring but unsuccessful academic reformer. He did better when he stuck to medieval scholarship, teaching at Indiana, Oxford, and Columbia. He lives in Brooklyn and Oxford but remains a fantasy Californian. Now he thinks he can write. This is his collection of 100 100-word stories, "Sportin' Jack."
