A tale of erotic love in a tumultuous time of war... It is 431 B.C on the eve of the Second Peloponnesian War. Athens and Sparta are poised to descend into a devastating battle for supremacy; a great war that will invariably bring a remarkable civilization to its knees . . . In the city of Athens, a young athlete named Aristion enters the magnificent, newly constructed Parthenon to pray at the altar of the indomitable goddess Athena, haunted by the sins committed against him in his past, and anxious for a war that he has yet to understand. Half a world away, but in the same world nonetheless, are Paros and Himeros, two Spartan warriors and lovers who yearn for a life together, but are sworn to the duties and the war machine that is Sparta. As the years pass for a war that seems to have no end in sight, and their lives are inevitably entwined, one thing becomes irrefutably clear. For although a great war is raging, and threatens to consume them all and everything around them, they still live under the spell of Eros . . .Brief Bio About The Writer: Writing novels has long been a life's ambition for Mr. Zimmerman. Attempting to write his very first novel at the tender age of thirteen proved to be somewhat of a traumatic experience as he could not come up with a suitable ending. Passionate about art and history from the time he could read, and in particular ancient Greece, it has always been his dream to parlay that passion into writing novels. To write his first "grown up" novel Medusa's Cause, Mr. Zimmerman spent a total of six months exploring Greece touring museums, archaeological sites, and as he says, "just eating, living, sleeping, breathing Greece." He is currently at work on two trilogies pertaining to the subject. Under The Spell of Eros is the first book in his planned Eros Trilogy. Mr. Zimmerman currently resides in Toronto, Canada.
