There are common themes of acceptance through her works, whether it be acceptance of self or from society around them. In her works Katie Leone seeks to educate those who are curious about transsexualism, perhaps because they've seen it on television or have been touched by it in life because a loved one or friend has identified themselves as transgender. Ms. Leone tries to escape the common troupes of transgender fiction and does her best to avoid the common trappings of the genre, namely she does not write solely about the external displays of being transgender (dressing up and acting like the opposite gender as if a person was acting out a character in a play) and concentrates on the psychological aspects of a person dealing with Gender Identity Disorder.
