Born and raised in the small town of Denham Springs, Louisiana, Erick Burgess earned a football scholarship to Northwestern State University where he blew out his knee after the first practice and effectively ended his football career. He then transferred to Southeastern Louisiana University to finish his education. He worked as a Support Manager at Wal-mart while he completed his degree in psychology. While working there, he got the idea for and began writing his first novel, Under Abnormal Conditions. After graduation he worked as a General Manager for Books-A-Million and then as the Program Specialist at the Louis Jetson Foundation for At-Risk Youth. He worked as a Probation and Parole Officer for ten years before writing full-time. Erick’s third novel, Darker Than Night, won the Bronze Medal in the Fiction Category of the Readers Favorite Awards. He continues to live in Denham Springs, Louisiana with his beautiful wife, their five children and his dog, Mystery.
