Lace up your running shoes and head out the door, or hop on the treadmill to log some miles. One of the primary reasons runners love this sport is the simplicity of the activity. Putting one foot in front of the other and propelling yourself forward to run is a primal instinct. But in our day of desk jobs, long commutes, and sedentary activity, the average runner isn't programmed to run mile after mile without injury. Run long enough, and you'll likely encounter a running-related injury that will force you to take a closer look at how you ended up nursing a pulled muscle or tendon, sore back, or aching joints. If you want to avoid running-related injuries or get back on the road to recovery, The Runner's Toolbox, by NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Michael Rosengart, will show you how. Michael developed this comprehensive guide to conditioning and injury prevention exercises for runners based on his own experience as a football player, coach, and runner. And he's helped thousands of other runners, athletes, and fitness-minded people improve their running performance based on these training principles. This easy-to-use reference manual contains over 100 exercises with easy-to-follow instructions and illustrations to help you fine-tune your body for running longer and faster. You'll learn how to improve mobility, strength, stride efficiency, and technique. You'll also learn how to prevent some of the most common running-related injuries like runner's knee, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, ankle and hamstring issues, Iliotibial Band Syndrome, and shin splints. Use The Runner's Toolbox as part of your training program, and and you'll be amazed at how these simple exercises can improve your pace, recovery time, and efficiency as a runner.

I created this book to help runners do what they love- longer and better. I have been training athletes and clients since 2000 and I am amazed of how many runners just lace up and run, not knowing what running can do to their bodies. Every avid runner is at risk of Repetitive Stress Syndrome because of the repetitive nature of running. So, I choose to make this book to give all the runners out there some tools that they can use to prevent injuries and run longer. I deliberately choose to make this book something that people could easily carry with them to the gym or to keep in a pack while they run, because doing some of these exercises before and after running will help to keep people running for a long time! From the Back Cover:
