James was a first responder at the World Trade Center on 911. But more importantly, he is a responder to Christ’s calling. At the tender age of six, James accepted Christ as his personal savior. Sadly, his father James Edward Johnson Sr. passed away when James was only seven years old; leaving a void in his life. He went through many highs and lows during his Christian walk while growing up in a crime infested community in Brooklyn New York. James felt God’s hand and call on his life; he started preaching God’s word at the age of 22. In 1985, James joined the New York Police Department. After working a year on street patrol, he became a narcotics undercover officer. God used James to lead many officers and civilians to Christ. James ‘most rewarding assignment came in 1993, when he became a youth officer; God gave him compassion for young people. Through God’s leading and anointing, James started a youth program that reduced gang violence by 62%. He started reaching youth, families and then communities. In 1996, James married Denise Jackson; they had two daughters: Christina and Jessica. In 2005, James and his family relocated to Cary North Carolina after James retired from the police department. Today God is still using James to connect with communities as the Director of neighborhood Development at Hope Community church.
