A retired librarian is visited by an otherworldly spiritual messenger, asking her to return to a VA hospital library in order to help a doctor who is helping homeless veterans. As part of the assignment, her youth is restored. The story is a tribute to veterans and hospital librarians. The author says that while writing the book, he listened to several Crowded House albums. Some of the songs that resonated with the story are, "Everything is Good for You If It Doesn't Kill You", "Nobody Wants To", "Heaven That I'm Making" and "People Are Like Suns".
