About the Author:

Llewelyn's collection of books includes the series: 1. Illustrated Diaries about European Budget Short-Break Holidays 2. Photo Albums 3. The Port Hope Simpson Diaries 1969-70 4. Port Hope Simpson Mysteries 5. The Voluntary Service Overseas in Labrador. 6. Travel Handbooks Llewelyn has worked with The Honourable Canadian Senator William (Bill) Rompkey, on writing the history of the Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) in Labrador. This is what Bill wrote in his letter to the first get- together of the VSO teachers at Pateley Bridge, North Yorkshire 1-3 August 2003, "...Labrador called to you and we are calling you now. I hope you will do what you can during these few days to fill in the Labrador record with your recollections and reflections. This too will be an important contribution to Labrador history. But mainly I hope you enjoy your time together. Llewelyn Pritchard has done a remarkable job in bringing you together. He is as shrewd as Holmes and as persistent as Poirot. He could even be a great Canadian! We owe him more than we can say. It's his event and I know it will be successful. All good wishes. Bill Rompkey"

It is quite easy to follow the fantastic mountain road (used by The Tour de France) through gorges where you can see eagles and griffon vultures circling overhead up in to the mountains to also visit Eaux-Chaudes (alt. 675 m) Hydrotherapy centre (Commune of Laruns) in a breathtaking setting of deep gorges and surrounding mountains. Illustrious French and Spanish characters came to be treated at Algas Caudas. In the 19th century rheumatism, respiratory and fertility conditions were also treated there. Further on you will come to Fabrges the last village before Spain where you may also arrive at the ski resort of Artouste, specializing in snow board sports, facing the Pic du Midi Mountain. The Little Train of Artouste is the highest in Europe (2000 m), allowing you to discover the wonders of nature, the azure blue Lake Artouste and enjoy a guided tour of the underground tunnels. Or, if you prefer somewhere closer to Laruns Village, why not directly cross the Valley DOssau (only about 2 miles) to the magical little village of Bost (520 m. altitude 197 population) where you can follow the villages heritage tour to admire and learn more about the villages floral, religious, political and professional (set square, compass) inscriptions so typical of the Ossau Valley that decorate the walls, stones and lintels of its buildings. The scallop shell decoration, the 12th century castle and the church are reminders that Beost is a stage on the Santiago de Compostella pilgrimage. English Edition This item ships from La Vergne,TN.
