Dr. Randall "Randy" Esters, the son of a farm laborer, was raised in rural Louisiana and is keenly aware of the barriers presented by poverty. Randy graduated from McNeese State University with a degree in Biology Education and then earned a Master of Education Degree in Administration and Curriculum Supervision. In addition to his Bachelor's and Master's degrees, he also earned an Education Specialist degree from McNeese. After several years in middle and high school science classrooms, he became a principal. After a successful tenure as a secondary educator, Randy was asked to join the leadership a college within the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS). There he specialized in grant writing, workforce training and community relations and began his pursuit of a doctoral degree at Lamar University, a member of the Texas State University System. Randy completed his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership while serving as an assistant dean within the LCTCS. After earning his Doctorate, Randy was asked to serve as the Associate Vice President for International Affairs and Dean of Education for Louisiana College, a premier private, liberal arts university. He is considered an innovator of new programs and approaches for the university. Randy is currently developing programs in several southern U.S. states and a number of international locations. Randy has traveled extensively in Africa and China. He is passionate about improving the lives of impoverished people in developing countries. He is deeply involved in humanitarian efforts of training teachers and working with schools to improve education. He stands firm on the mantra of giving people a hand up and not a handout.
