‘Fifty Percent Fiction’ is the story about Claire Mathews, a woman widowed in her early fifties. After two years of coming to terms with her grief, she decides to join a dating site because she hopes to find love again. Some of her experiences are cautionary, some hilarious, but throughout the book we are reminded how vulnerable single women can be, especially if they’ve enjoyed a loving relationship for many years before finding themselves alone. The first few chapters are set in rural France, but after a series of events, Claire returns to the UK and becomes an overnight celebrity for all the wrong reasons. There are now four men in her life, and one of them is her late husband. The question is...which one will she end up with?

An interior designer for most of her working life, Alexis Leech became well known for her involvement in interior make-overs on both TV, and in the press. Alexis had written several articles for newspapers and magazines on the subject of interiors over the years, but she was inspired to write her first novel in her late forties. Sadly, she was widowed in her fifties, after she and her husband lost everything as a result of investing in a hotel they’d hoped to buy. Alexis founded widowsandwidowersunite.com three years after she was widowed, and six months after she hit the national press when she joined a dating site at the age of 57. The fact that she joined a dating site wasn’t that newsworthy, but the fact that a woman of her age should get nearly a 1,000 messages within 48 hours because she dared to post a picture of herself wearing a new swimsuit on her profile, was. Alexis learned a lot from the experience, especially after she communicated with dozens of single people who had been widowed or divorced. Using her experiences, and the stories of dozens more, she wrote ‘Fifty Percent Fiction,’ her third novel.
