Kristen Coy is the author of an amazing, fun and educational book series called My ABC’s Sign Language book series. It is the complete alphabet with a visual aid of colors and references for each letter with an actual palm signing. My ABC Sign Language Book series also incorporates the whole family and teaches children both Hearing and Impaired about other languages that are not spoken. Born in 1980 with a hearing impairment and raised in Bronx, New York, she vividly remembers firsthand the difficulties and setbacks that were brought about in her early childhood development with educational tools designed around Hearing individuals. What allowed her to maintain an interest in education were the visual aspects of many of the books she read as a child. In her efforts to reach higher success outside of school she searched for inspiration to give her hope that a disability does not limit your future and accidentally stumbled upon Helen Keller, a Deaf and Blind author who wrote a book about her life. This was the fuel she needed. Her life’s goal is to incorporate many of these visual concepts into her own work in order to entertain as well as grow the human experience which is why author, Kristen K Coy chose to return to college, receive her Bachelors degree and graduate Magna Cum Laude in Business Administration, and is now enrolled at Kaplan University achieving her MBA in Health Care Management with an expected graduation date of 2013, inspiring herself and others. Her studies allowed Kristen to focus her efforts in continuing to create educational reading and implement ideas that drive to the forefront concepts not realized for sign language products. Kristen continues to create her series of books and products that she believes will successfully enhance the educational experience and captivate the Deaf and Hearing Impaired community and hopes that her story will inspire everyone!
