He’s a today kind of guy, a real operator. They’re just a bunch of time-warped hippies. So how come he feels like he's the freak? Peace & Love & All That Crap is an unlikely romance, an adventure, a contemporary morality tale, and a self-help manual – all rolled into one. It’s full of acerbic social commentary, wry humor, deep and meaningful cosmic wisdom – and of course, lots of hippie-flavoured sex and drugs and rock’n’roll. Roger Ford is a man of our time. A cynical, opportunistic Public Relations consultant bullshitting everyone – his clients, his acquaintances, his trophy girlfriend, and even himself – just to keep up with life in the fast lane. But when his manipulative instincts get him sacked, he’s forced to take an assignment helping a bunch of hippies trying to save a rainforest from destruction. What makes everything so much more difficult for him is Carnie, a wild and free hippie girl who turns him around and around again in an outrageous confrontation between today’s shallow, pragmatic cynicism and the attitudes and idealism of the counter culture.

Allan Lloyd (if that's his real name and not a tragically unimaginative nom de plume) hasn't previously worked as a manual laborer, merchant seaman, itinerant fruit picker, social worker, or any of the other occupations seemingly de rigueur for authors' biographies. He doesn't live in an isolated stone cottage anywhere on the Scottish coast, a converted barn in New England, or even a restored chateau in the south of France. He has no pets with which to take contemplative walks on windswept beaches or rainswept moors. Nor has he ever understood why readers need to know anything about an author to read a book.
