FREAK ACCIDENT, Ed Heyman’s fifth novel is his change of pace novel. Once again writing about sailing he switched from warm waters to the coldest place on earth; the Southern Ocean which circles the South Pole. A novel for adults and intended to be both satirical and funny, while the reader will be informed about subject that range from the banal to extremely controversial . President Baxter Barfington has met with a few of the most important leaders of the free and not so free world in Washington, DC to discuss mutually agreed upon international issues. The conferenced is ending, and Baxter insists that Prince Ibrahim bin Ali Al-Qusaibi of Saudi Arabia, Eugany Agamov, President of Russia, Hardee Bairbotton, Prime Minister of Great Britain, and Li Li Hung, Chairman of the Chinese Republic join him on Air Force One. At the last minute, the president’s usual translator, a nun from a nearby convent falls ill. Bubba Connolly, the presidential Chief of Staff ok’s the hiring of a young woman to replace the usual translator. Aphrodite Sexauer, a 24 year old speaker of eight of the most used languages in the world, plus one very little know language who is lucky enough to be with the White House’s Human Resources Director at the time, is given the job, which Bubba ok’s without checking Aphrodite’s resume. That turns out to be a mistake, because after Air Force One’s engine fail and the pilots manage to land the giant jet on an extremely improbable iceberg on the Southern Ocean, Aphrodite’s phobias kick in. Both phobias are rare; one annoys the hell out of her fellow survivors who wind up together on Presidential Escape Capsule Number One. Her other phobia is nymphomania, a rare phobia and one that gives the young lady a great deal of distress and the passengers of the President’s escape lifeboat/capsule a hell of a lot of comfort and other things. Have fun reading a novel that will keep every reader turning pages. FREAK ACCIDENT by ED HEYMAN. It is not a dirty book; it is funny, which a lot of things in life are even at the worst of times.

After three years in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II, Edward S. Heyman majored in Journalism and later studied law and qualified for the California State Bar examination. By then he was the owner of a successful marketing company and decided the business world was where he would stay. He met his only love, Adele, at College in 1947. They married, and during the next fifty-eight years (still counting) traveled and toured most of the North American continent and much of Europe and the Pacific while they raised two sons. Ed and Adele owned, raced and cruised sailboats for twenty years. The photograph on this website shows their final boat named YKnot? that gave them an additional seven years on the water. Sail to a Future and An Untitled Sail originated from those sailing years. Some sailing scenes in his novels are distortions of real experiences during their own sailing years. These days Edward S. Heyman continues to write novels that voice his political! and philosophical point of view of America today and his thoughts of the future. He is an avid golfer, swims twice a week year round, and he and Adele enjoy their children and grandchildren.
