Maine, 1913: Claiming she is mad, Emily Grey's husband and evilmother-in-law plot to take away her newborn son. She is released from amental institution only to discover that her son died more than a decade earlier. Unable to bear the grief, she hangs herself from the balconyof her manor home. When 18-year old Claire arrives at themanor to care for a young couple's new baby, she finds the motherinexplicably frail and nearly bedridden. Though the father doesn'tbelieve in ghosts, Claire knows there is an ominous presence lurking inthe manor's dark shadows.

Has Emily returned from the grave toclaim this couple's baby as her own? Or is there something else afoot -something even more sinister? As Claire searches for clues, sheunwittingly uncovers a web of secrets so explosive that - once revealed - will doom this family's fate forever.

About the Author:

Renee Ross was born in 1961. It was during the late sixties and early seventies that she developed a love for the Gothic genre which was wildly popular at the time. "I remember the excitement of standing at the book rack in the dime-store perusing the many covers which depicted a terrified young woman fleeing a castle usually barefoot and in her nightgown."

It was also during that time that the Gothic soap opera, "Dark Shadows" was on every afternoon. "We had no way of recording programs to watch later back then, and I remember rushing home from school just in time to see the last 10 minutes of the show."

Her favorite authors include Dorothy Eden, VC Andrews, and Florence Hurd - just to name a few. Though she does not attempt to emulate any one writer in particular, she does aim to recreate the vintage Gothic experience for readers of her generation who enjoyed these books as well as younger readers who are discovering them for the first time. "Hopefully movies like Crimson Peak, My Cousin Rachel, The Woman in Black and Beguiled are a sign that traditional Gothic romance will never go out of style."

Brand New Book ***** Print on Demand *****.When Claire Galloway accepts a post as nanny for two-month old Daniel Kensington, she is unprepared for the macabre situation that exists behind the walls of Marchfield Manor. Upon her arrival, she learns the tragic history of a woman named Emily Marchfield Grey, who hanged herself from the parapet a half century ago. The disturbing event still shrouds the Gothic manor in a pervasive gloom and sends Daniel s mother, Lily, down a path as nightmarish as the one that drove Emily to the brink of madness. Beginning with the death of Daniel s twin brother, Lily hears Emily s music box every night just before her ghostly apparition appears. But when she begins to experience the same phenomenon herself, she turns to Lily s husband, Mark . A physician and skeptic, he condemns her for stoking his wife s delusions. As the mysterious occurrences become ever more twisted and bizarre, Claire begins to question her own sanity as well as Lily s.
