9781484898956: Saved By A Whisker (Saved By A Whisker #1) (Volume 1)

Their eyes tell the stories. You see the pain, their starvation, and the injuries. You also see their determination and perseverance. These are the kitties’ own stories. With each rescue, I learned something more about myself. As time passes, I learn their personalities, see them develop friendships with myself and other cats. I watch over them as they live out their lives in safety. I am with them when they pass away in peace. There is Bob, a kitty whose owner took his own life after a life of drugs and alcohol. His own father was determined to kill Bob, the one thing his son loved most in this life. The story of Rug Rat who survived scavenging for scraps of grain at a stable to survive. How little Rugs saved my own life as she frantically warned me about a fire danger. Rugs changed the heart of a woman who never showed compassion for any animal before holding little Rugs. Read about Five Kittens Found and how dynamic people rise to the occasion when an animal is in need of placement in a safe, loving home. About two cats who were opposites in personalities named Stockings and Bruiser. Each started with their own story but ended as one story, bonded and caring unto death for each other. The story of Herman is how a fellow rescuer took him into her home knowing he may have a short life. There is Tuff Tiger, again a short life but a quality life as long as possible with both active FIV and Felv. There are the stories of Pooh Kitty, a rescue from a boarding stable and pregnant, Sammy, a rescue from a drug house, Pecco and Ariel whose owner could not sell them to a pet store because of not being cute enough and looking sickly. The story about an old cat named Bubba whose owner died and left his uncaring widow to care for his beloved pet. Her idea of caring for this old cat was to throw Bubba out into a harsh world to fend for herself. Then there are the humorous stories of growing up with the family cat Nuisance. How my little sister saved Nuisance and ultimately starting the course of the future of me doing animal rescue. How he got the notorious name Nuisance from our Mom. There is the story of Nuisance Two, nicknamed Nuesy. There are the other family stories of Cat and Uncle Earl and how my sister’s daughter crawled under his trailer to catch a feral kitten unwittingly, learning first hand what a feral cat is. There is the story about my little sister coming for a visit only to run to the rescue of her son being engulfed by my twenty-one cats as they tried to swipe the bologna out of her son's raised hand. The stories of Squirt and BC, each rescued a month apart and how each had a birth defect. Squirts life ended eleven years after her rescue, BC is turning fourteen years of age in July, 2013. Their stories began in August and September 1999. BC's story is not finished. From these kitties' stories, more stories began. Their story became a part of other cats' lives. The kitties in these stories developed my commitment to animal rescue of handicapped cats and began a never-ending story.
