THE following pages from Father Faber are, for the most part, the seventh chapter of his most popular work, "All for Jesus." The incidental words at its beginning have been omitted; but a page from" The Creator and the Creature," showing how radical gratitude is in religion, has been prefixed to it, and a few pages on that virtue, as a flower springing from devotion to the Holy Eucharist, have been added from "The Blessed Sacrament." As Father Faber himself recalls, part of that chapter was reprinted as a booklet by his friend, Bertram, Earl of Shrewsbury; and it is now thought that many a reader will welcome the whole of it in a separate form, since it is in itself a complete treatise on the subject of Thanksgiving.
