About the Author

Jennifer Christenson created the abc English series to teach adult refugees and immigrants who are not literate in their native languages how to read and speak English, starting with the abc sounds.  Jennifer has taught many hundreds of literacy level adult refugees and immigrants, primarily through Granite Peaks Adult Education programs in Salt Lake City, Utah.   

Jennifer earned an Elementary Educator's License with a specialization in Reading Instruction, as well as a Master's Degree in Education from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, UT.  In 2008, Jennifer won the "Literacy Leader Award" from the Granite Council of the International Reading Association for her work promoting literacy education in the refugee community in Salt Lake City.  In 2016, Jennifer was selected as a runner up for the national COABE Teacher of the Year Award. 

Jennifer currently coordinates and teaches for the Humanitarian Center English Program, a unique model Workplace Education program in which adult refugees receive intensive literacy and English instruction, job training, and job placement. Contact Jennifer and learn more about abc English at teachabcenglish.com.
