No! I refuse to give you any kind of explanation as to what this tome is about. If you want to find out, read it for yourself! Forgive me. I do not mean to sound like an insensitive. It is just that I tire of always providing various persons with an outline of my narrative, when half the people who ask never even bother to read it in the first place! And how do you think that makes me feel - - - what with the hours of shed blood, sweat, and tears that went into penning this incredible tale? Put yourself in my shoes! Would you not feel absolutely abandoned by everyone in the world, like an orphaned chipmunk whose parents were squashed beneath the fat black tires of a technologically advanced tractor, if YOU wrote a book and no one read it? that is why I react so defensively when I am asked: "Oh, what is your book about, sir?" However, I will at least tell you this. Personages - which I admit is an Awful title - is the first book in a five-book series which chronicles the two most famous wars of Western England - The Finessian War and the Intelligentsian War. I, Charles Wordsworth Brightley, was intricately involved in both of these epoch-defining events, and recently Determined that the most effective way for me to properly appropriate the events of that Time in my life would be to write a narrative concerning the various misadventures I experienc'd. I hope that, in reading my volume [and the ones which will shortly proceed it], you not only gain a better understanding of some of the most tumultuous historical events of the beloved country that I call home, but will also be enabled to better understand yourself as an individual, and ascertain whether or not your daily existence is inauthentic and defined by absurd social restrictions which result in nothing more than transforming you into a mindless piptom who languishes on the couch during every moment of free time while mindlessly surfing social media. In short, this the tale of Charles Wordsworth Brightley [that is, myself], and his various misadventures during the notorious Finessian and Intelligenstian Wars of Western England.
