Physical stress, such as hard endurance or strength training in sport, normally causes fatigue, increases serum stress hormone Cortisol concentrations, increase blood lactic acid and ammonia concentration, but decreases muscle and liver glycogen contents, which thus cause a rapid body fatigue and loss of muscle strength and endurance capacity. But adaptogens tend to increase physical endurance, muscle strength and muscle and liver glycogen content, but at the same time they tend to decrease the catabolic hormone Cortisol concentration and increase the anabolic hormone concentrations, such as Testosterone and Growth hormone. There exists astonishing number of natural products, such as herbs, foods, food compounds and pure natural compound, which have a strong adaptogenic effect, and improve both physical and mental performance. Stig Froberg was born 1955 in city Turku, Finland. He graduated as a physicist in Turku University 1983. The last 25 years he has been working with Neste Oil, the Naantali facility unit laboratory. His specialties are laboratory analysis methods and physical properties of liquids and gases. He has researched over 35 years of nutrition, sports nutrition, sports medicine, herbal medicines and aphrodisiacs. He has knowledge of over 2000 medicinal plants. His hobby is cultivation of food and medicinal plants. He has 20 years of experience as a competition sportsman, and he is a former Finnish champion in 50 kilometers race walking.
