Douglas Underhill was born in 1955 in Manhattan Beach California; 10 years later he moved to Lake Havasu, Arizona. He graduated from high school and tried his hand at college, this was short lived since the creative entrepreneur in him was stirring. Much to his family's dismay, he left college. At the age of 19, he started a custom audio and video installation company with the funding of business partner, industrialist Robert McCulloch Jr. ( McCulloch Chain Saw Corp. and major Land developer). Both became significant pioneers in the early industry of custom designed home audio, theatre and alarm systems. They thrived in the Beverly Hills area from the early 70 to the 80s.. In 1982 Underhill started a second office in Scottsdale, Arizona believing the real estate market would explode there in the next 20 years. It did and he left the LA area and capitalized on the North Scottsdale construction boom. He recently retired from the audio installation business and spends part of his time at his Durga Ranch in Cave Creek Arizona and his home in Kauai. He has a daughter Rachel who is premed at Boston University. He loves the ocean, tennis, hiking adventures, yoga and pursuing creative pursuits that stir his active imagination.
