About the Author:

Dr. James Hampton was born in New Blaine, Arkansas. After completing his Bachelor of Arts at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, he went on to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, where he received his Bachelor and Masters of Divinity in preparation for ministry in churches in Arkansas, Texas, and New Mexico. Following seminary graduation, he and his first wife Gena felt the call to foreign missions and spent more than 33 years in Tanzania and Kenya. The Doctor of Divinity degree was conferred upon Dr. Hampton by his alma mater, Ouachita Baptist University, in 1978. Following missionary service with the Southern Baptist International Mission Board, he was invited to join the staff at the mission headquarters in Richmond, Virginia, for another 7½ years. He is currently married to Ganelle Pearce Hampton and lives in Marble Falls, Texas. The Hamptons have six children, twenty-three grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
