The Weinsteins of Kolomea of Austria arrived in New York in September 22, 1902 (See passport) They settled in lower east side of Manhattan. This was a Jewish immigrant area. They had a small tenement flat. They worked in the garment center, very independent. They tried their own small business. Zosie had a restaurant with Yossel or Joseph (Dave's father). After the restaurant, he had a factory at 49 East 1st Street. He made cigar holders and pipes. Zesie was married to Mollie - his niece, (his sister Freida Ruschel daughter and got sick in 1919 of the flu.) Both Freida & Mollie died the same week in March 1919. Zesie then married Celia Schneider in July 1919. In his first marriage, he had 3 children: Beatrice, Albert, & Martin. With Celia, he had 8 more children: Bernard, Sydney, Harold, Irving, Lorraine, Anita, Phyllis, & Elaine. Celia raised the 3 small children from the first marriage.
