Alan Caron is a lifelong Mainer who grew up in Waterville, Maine in a family of mill workers and farmers. He has been a small business owner and social entrepreneur for most of his adult life, working on issues ranging from business development to neighborhood renewal, affordable housing, transportation, telecommunications and the environment. He has a weekly column in the Portland Press Herald, the Waterville Morning Sentinel and the Kennebec Journal. Alan now lives in Freeport, Maine, with his wife and son. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Management from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, where he was the first student admitted to a mid-career Master’s level program without prior undergraduate credits. His interests include history, golf, gardening, sailing and flying.
