About the Author:
Alexander Lange Kielland wurde am 18.02.1849 in Stavanger geboren; er starb am 06.04.1906 in Bergen. Er stammte aus einem einflussreichen, wohlhabenden Kaufmannsgeschlecht. Sein Studium der Rechtswissenschaften beendete er 1871 mit dem Staatsexamen. Ein Jahr später heiratete er Beate Ramstand und ließ sich in seiner Heimatstadt als Besitzer und Leiter einer kleinen Ziegelei nieder, die er bis 1881 betrieb. 1878/79 ging er nach Paris, um Autor zu werden. Dort traf er BjørnstjerneBjørnson, der Kiellands Schreibversuche unterstützte. 1892 übernahm er das Bürgermeisteramt in Stavanger; ab 1902 war er Amtmann in Møre und Romsdal. Quelle: Wikipedia
