A woman haunted by what has been and what might be...

BOOK 2 Spirit series -- Ten years may have passed, but her innate ability to interact with the spiritual world continues to haunt Ellie Duncan. Determined to overcome the pervasive hold it has over her life, she makes the difficult decision to suppress any and all contact, even if doing so keeps her from someone she loves. Yet when her daughter begins to exhibit disturbing mystical powers of her own, Ellie is forced to face her private fears and acknowledge the truth about herself and her family. With the help of her husband, his dead mother, and an unwelcome visitor from her past, Ellie learns to confront the reality that some things are not only beyond her control but full of hidden, undeniable purpose.

From the Author:

From REVELATIONS:

With a takeout coffee from the café clutched tight in her hand, Ellie walked the length of Main Street. Unsure what to do with this new information, she turned on her heel and repeated her steps.
Incapable of processing the questionable deaths, she instead allowed a momentary slip into the past. Visits down memory lane, at least to a time before she and Reese were together, were rare. High school and her years living in New York after graduation were not ones she wished to remember. In retrospect, she realized the hours without Reese in her life proved endless and miserable, every second filled with melancholy, isolation, and heartache no person or thing had the power to heal.
And it was in those low moments, when she was alone and open to thought that she understood. Once you fall in love with someone, you cannot ever truly rid yourself of the feeling. What was more, grief, anger, fear and even love catch up to you no matter how much you try to escape them.
She had done everything in her limited power to suppress the memory of how she once fiercely hated her mother. How everything about the woman, from her manicured nails to the incessant quoting of scripture put a teenage Ellie on edge. The death of her husband and newfound career as a church pastor had changed Elyse Duncan into a kind woman Ellie loved. Respected. Considered a friend.
Yet even with their close relationship, Ellie never confessed to her mother that she could interact with spirits, especially her own father. There was simply no way to announce "by the way, Mom, I was talking to Dad the other day, you know even though he's dead..." Instead, her ability had become a horrific secret forever wedged between them, and Ellie spent the last decade trying to reverse the gift. After all, if it was part of the balance of nature as Mahan claimed, then there must be a way around it as well.
Except Ellie never decoded the secret. She continued to see the spirits that reached out to her, and the only way to block them out altogether was to remain extremely focused.
With every sheer ounce of her being, Ellie tried to escape all of those feelings-and more-when she left for New York after high school graduation. And although Reese knew from one of his visions that she would one day return to their small town in Colorado, Ellie did not. He knew her father would die. She did not.
Day upon day Reese waited for her and in those years, Ellie did everything she could to forget him.
College, work, and life with her best friend Joss kept her distracted. As did dating. There were only a handful of suitors, none of them serious or romantic enough to even be classified as boyfriend.
   Except for Graham.
And with that disturbing thought, Ellie tossed her empty cup into the garbage can decorated with spring blooms.
