Books and movies abound on the Dracula theme. What is this fascination with the undead vampire? Does anyone still believe in this nonsense? Many once did. Other superstitions can often prove dangerous and lead to violence. This story has all the excitement of the Dracula tale while exposing its erroneous fantasy and, by implication, all related misguided ignorance. It sheds light on false accusation in a most entertaining fashion while showing that people rarely change their minds or learn from its lesson.

Eugene Flam has had an exciting life and a versatile career. His early training as a pre-med student was interrupted by World War II where he saw combat in Germany. When the war ended, he got a job as a reporter for an army newspaper and when the older soldiers went home, he became editor, at age 19, of the army newspaper in the whole Berlin area. Since childhood, he was always singing and when he returned home, he switched careers and got his degree in Voice from the Juilliard School. He has sung in many opera companies including Little Orchestra Society, Syracuse Symphony, Metropolitan Opera Studio and National Lyric Opera, where he also directed. Flam had an act where he performed hundreds of times in the Borscht Circuit, the Waldorf Astoria, Hotel Pierre, and Carnegie Hall, to name a few. His show-stopping number was singing the Figaro area from Barber of Seville while shaving a member of the audience. His Schubert concert in Carnegie Recital Hall got a rave review in the New York Times. He did many TV appearances including a 45-minute documentary on his life. Flam has sung as cantor as well as in orchestral concerts of Brahms' Requiem and Handel's Messiah. He has taught a variety of singers from a rock star to Broadway and Metropolitan Opera performers. Flam is also the author of "Where Destiny Leads."
